Is Kappa Delta a top tier sorority? ›

Kappa Delta (“KD”) is considered an up-and-coming sorority, one that has risen to the top tier in terms of reputation in recent decades. This reputation is by no means uniform, which may be due to the diversity of girls who pledge KD.

No chapter may purchase alcohol with sorority funds, regardless of state law. No individual may coordinate the collection of funds to purchase alcohol for a Kappa Delta sponsored or co-sponsored event.

Kappa Delta Sorority is a national organization for women with more than 277,000 members, 168 active collegiate chapters, and 215 active alumnae chapters nationwide. Kappa Delta offers support for leadership development, personal growth, academic success, and community service, all in the context of true friendship.

There are four major sororities, all of which were established in early twentieth century, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Howard University, 1908), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Howard University, 1913), Zeta Phi Beta Sorority (Howard University, 1920), and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority (Butler University, 1922).

Kappa Delta (ΚΔ, also known as KD or Kaydee) was the first sorority founded at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University), in Farmville, Virginia.

Does Kappa Delta haze? ›

Does your organization haze? Delta Kappa Delta is a strictly non-hazing sorority. Therefore, we are completely against any forms of hazing. Our National Guidelines as well as Our Chapters' & Charters' Universities Guidelines state that there is a zero tolerance policy against hazing.

Kappa Delta offers its members opportunities to develop leadership skills, learn from others, grow personally and take action on issues that are important to them.

Initiated Members. Kappa Delta's sisterhood continues to expand – from our four original founders to now more than 301,000 sisters from chapters across the country.

The groups are top-tier to mid tier in most Southern schools and solid middle-tier in other regions of the US. Like all sororities, Kappa Delta has some struggling chapters. In the South, KD is considered, along with Phi Mu, Tri-Delta and Chi Omega to be the 'creme de la creme'.

The Golden Circle is comprised of those collegiate women who have donated to the Kappa Delta Foundation. Every dollar contributed by the Golden Circle chapters is returned in the form of services, leadership, and educational programming.
